Skin Care Routine

The key to flawless make-up application is, of course, your skin! Skin is the most delicate part of the body and should be handled with care. Identifying the condition of your skin determines your skincare routine. I have dry, sensitive skin and I also have eczema. Sometimes I have flare ups in some areas on my face. Recently I’ve updated my skincare routine and have noticed a great difference.

STEP 1: Remove make-up

Before I actually cleanse my face, I remove my make-up using coconut oil. Now, there are many different brands of coconut oil out there and it honestly does not matter which brand you use. Just make sure it is virgin/organic and unrefined. The less extra ingredients that are in it, the better it is for you. A good way to tell if you have pure coconut oil is if it is in a solid form when you buy it. Don’t worry coconut oil melts as soon as it comes in contact with heat so it will melt in your hands, just rub it in a little bit.

STEP 2: EXFOLIATE!!!

I cannot stress how important this step is, especially for us dealing with dry skin. The way I exfoliate depends on the amount of make-up I wore that day. If I wear heavy make-up I exfoliate using the Neutrogena Wave Sonic Power Cleanser. This can be found at almost any store or drug store. If I wore light or no make-up, I will exfoliate using Philosophy Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash which I stumbled upon at ULTA a few weeks ago. This product is a little pricey but it was definitely worth it.

STEP 3: Cleanse

For a cleanser, I use the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser in the morning and at night. Yes, I know it may be a bit redundant to cleanse after using these washes, but since my skin is more sensitive I have to be sure to not use anything too harsh. The Cetaphil cleanser makes my skin feel a lot smoother to touch and calms it a bit after the exfoliating process.

STEP 4: Tone

A toner is important for all skin types. Toners are used to make your skin look more radiant and after a while it will begin to even out your complexion, hence the name. The toner that I use is by No. 7 and it is from their Beautiful Skin line. I use the toner made for dry/very dry skin. I instantly feel and see a difference in the hydration of my skin after cleansing. This step is also done in the morning and at night.

I hope this skincare routine will be useful for you! And if you have any questions or need anything explained in depth just let me know!

Stay pretty!
