Fall Must Haves: Lip Colors

Last week I did a post about my fall must have shades for eyeshadow. Today, it’s all about the lips! Eyeshadow is important when it comes to a look, but the lips are what ties everything together. People think when it comes to fall colors that the dark, vampy look is always the way to go and I have to disagree. Yes, the vampy look is the staple look for the fall season, but you can still rock other colors as well! Everything doesn’t have to be so dark for the fall season. Whether its lipstick, lip gloss or a liquid lipstick that you prefer, these shades should definitely be on your list for this fall.

Fall Lip Swatches 2

Deep Reds

Of course everyone’s favorite fall go-to color is a nice deep red. Some people have a hard time finding red lip shades for their skin tones, but I promise there is one out there for you! One red that I’ve grown to love is NYX Snow White. Judging by the name, you would think it’s like a candy apple red but it is the total opposite. After swatching this I knew I had to add it to my collection. Next is shade number 11 by Rimmel London’s Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick. This shade is a bit darker than the NYX Snow White and has been my go-to red for a while now. These products can be found at your local drug store or beauty supply store.

Deep Wines

Deep wine is another color that I adore for the fall season. Since red lipstick does not always go with every outfit choice, a choice from the deep wine/purple family is an alternative color. It’s more bold and dramatic than your average deep red. A shade that I recently bought has become one of my absolute favorites now! It is Milani Matte Flirty. Some matte lipsticks tend to dry your lips, but Milani has figured it out and has mastered the perfect mix so you do not have to worry about dry lips while wearing any of their matte formulas. A deep purple color that was my favorite prior to Milani Matte Flirty is Cover Girl Embrace. This shade does not match many outfit choices since it has more of a purple tine, but I just love the color payoff. All of these products can be found at your local drugstore.

Bright Reds

Even though fall makes you think deep, dark colors I still like to throw a pop of a bright red in the mix sometimes, especially if I’m wearing a dark colored outfit like all black. My absolute favorite bright red lipstick is of course the ever popular MAC Ruby Woo. I just love Ruby Woo because it is a matte so it lasts longer and it honestly looks great on everyone. I’m not sure how MAC created a shade of red that looks great on every single person, but they did it perfectly! I also use the lip liner to sharpen the look a bit and it makes a huge difference than wearing the lipstick alone.

Pinks/Nudes

Last but not least, you can never go wrong with a pink or nude lip! I know you’re thinking these aren’t fall colors, but you can make them work! For fall nudes I recommend choosing colors that are a bit darker and have a more brown than pink tint to them. These shades are different than your average nude that you would wear during the spring or summer. A perfect example of a great nude for the fall is Milani Rose Femme. It’s more of a dusty rose but compared to my skin tone it looks like a nude with a mauve tint. This is my everyday lip when I have class or have to run a few errands. Of course I line my lips first using NYX Chocolate. You can always line your lips with a shade that is your skin tone or a few shades darker before applying a nude lipstick. A great shade of deep pink is Cover Girl Spellbound. I love this shade because it is the perfect shade of pink. It’s not too bright but it’s not like a frosty type of pink either.

Well, those are my favorite lip shades for fall and I’m still adding to the collection! What are some of your favorites? Leave a comment down below!

Stay pretty!
