Beauty Hacks

It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve done a post! I feel so bad for neglecting my blog but I had to focus on school and work. With graduation in a couple weeks, we are getting down to the wire! I can’t believe it’s almost here! But any who, this post is hopefully something that will be beneficial to you. I’ve come up with a list of ten beauty hacks that will help you get through any beauty emergency. Some of them you may have heard of, some may sound a bit crazy, but trust me they work! Here we go!

  1. DIY toner for oily skin

Mix three parts apple cider vinegar with one part water. Apple cider vinegar has a strong odor, so be prepared. The ACV will tackle the excess oil on your face. Can be used once or twice a day.

  1. DIY lip sugar scrub

Since its cold out, it’s time to worry about dry lips again *cringes*. Nothing is worse than applying lipstick (especially matte formulas) to dry or cracked lips. For a simple homemade lip exfoliator, just combine sugar and some of your favorite oil, mine is coconut. Do not exfoliate your lips more than twice a week! Be sure to either moisturize or add lip balm after exfoliation to soothe your lips.

  1. Keep nail polish in the fridge

Doing this will allow the nail polish to stay in its original smooth, liquid state. You know how sometimes nail polish that has been sitting around for a while can lose its consistency? Not with this hack!

  1. Cracked makeup

Dropped your favorite pressed powder or blush and it cracked into little pieces? I’ve done this so many times! All you need is some clear rubbing alcohol and a spoon. Add a bit of the rubbing alcohol to the product then use the spoon to reform it into the compact. Let it sit out to dry overnight and it’s good as new!

  1. Mascara smudges

Accidentally get mascara on your face while applying to your eyelashes? DO NOT wipe it off immediately! As hard as it may be, let it dry completely first then just simply brush it off with your finger. If you try to take it off while it’s still wet, you then take the risk of ruining your makeup and no one wants to go through reapplying all that!

  1. Dupe for blotting papers

You know around midday when it’s time to reapply powder to your t-zone? If you don’t have any blotting papers, you can rip off a piece of a toilet seat cover. I know this sounds crazy, but it works! If you don’t feel comfortable with using the first available one (which I don’t) tear off a piece of the second one. Or maybe even the third for you super germophobes.

  1. Foundation matching

When trying different foundations, DO NOT swatch them on your hand or wrist. You want to swatch them on your neck or even toward the bottom of the jawline. Basically, you want to get as close to the neck as possible. This is because you want the color to match your neck, not your face. This will eliminate the risk of you looking two-toned from the neck up!

  1. Freshen up dry/dull hair

Does your hair need a refresher but you have no time to wash it? Use a dry shampoo, then a spray-on leave-in conditioner. Be sure to work the product through your hair to achieve maximum results. If you don’t have leave-in conditioner, you can make one! Just mix some regular conditioner with water in a spray bottle and you’re good to go! Just be sure to not use anything heavy, like something that can be used for deep conditioning.

  1. Lipstick too light for skin tone?

I run into this problem a lot, especially when it comes to pink lipsticks. The trick is to use a lip liner that is a shade or two darker than the actual lipstick color. Line the lips first and then and the lipstick in the middle. The key is to blend, blend, blend! There should be no harsh lines of separation.

  1. Lipstick not poppin’?

A lot of people have trouble with getting a good wear from a lipstick. Some lipsticks are like eyeshadows, they just need a good base. When applying your foundation, dab some onto your lips and be sure to blend it in. When you add your lip color it will pop even more and be at its full potential.

If you loved these beauty hacks and want more, l will be glad to do another post in the future! There are so many hacks out there that it’s ridiculous! They actually come in handy sometimes, too. Until next time!

Stay pretty!
